Today I updated my Seesaw student and teacher progressions. These were created awhile ago to use as goals, progressions and a resource teachers and students can use when implementing Seesaw. It covers three different levels of progressions: beginner, proficient and advanced. There are five areas to the progressions:
These can be displayed in your class, used for formative assessment of students using Seesaw or to help teachers see how they are using it, to build to an advanced level of use. Grab these updated versions below!

Today I presented at Ulearn2020. It was really different this year being a completely online course and I ran a presentation called 'Get Sweet with Seesaw'. It was an introductory session to Seesaw, unpacking four key ways that Seesaw can be used with students and in your classroom. The four key themes were:
It gave examples of what those themes meant for use with Seesaw, how it is represented in the classroom and then there was some play-exploration time for teachers to use the tools in practice. I find the best way to learn is via hands on learning opportunities and really value learning by using Seesaw.
If you would love access to my slides you can click on the link below! Otherwise any questions about what I shared please get in contact. I love Seesaw and really see the benefits for learning! Her resources are amazing - with bundles, activities, classroom displays and more to help unpack emotions, coping skills, mindfulness and more! If you are looking to get into any of this then her resources are where it is at! I have also subscribed to Calm Space Collective - a termly subscription of fidgets, mindfulness and calming manipulatives that students can use in a space like this. I have a box of fidgets and things they can use as a strategy when in the calm down corner. There are other things like fluffy pillows and even a blanket that can be used too. I don't have a picture of my space but will update this post with one once I have taken one. I also use these resources in my class to unpack the zones of regulation which I have tied into all of this learning. I use my zones lanyard help everyday when on duty and then the zones of regulation pack at the beginning of the journey into emotions and the zones. Regulation lanyard help
NZ$0.00
Regulation lanyard help This regulation freebie will provide a reminder for students and teachers to talk through their zone and emotions. There is a cover sheet, emotion explanation and then a card for each zone. These provide questions for teachers to scaffold the conversation and also some sentence starters for students to use when answering. Great for teacher on duty or just a visual reminder on a teacher lanyard. For the same size as mine, I printed 6 to a page. This year I have made an active point to include play into my classroom. Teaching Year 0-3 students, it is part of our everyday learning to build on those key skills and learning opportunities. I have a few things in place that work towards this - sharing a few of these below in this post! Call it what you want, playful, play-based, learning through play is an amazing aspect to have in the classroom. Learning through play is a pedagogical approach where play is the valued mode of learning – where children can explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. Learning through play is also called play-based learning. - NZ Curriculum TKI

What technology did we use?
The must-do activities were usually one reading themed, one maths themed, one writing themed and then a check in. There were also two different variations of the choice board which differentiated for needs, with students being able to choose 1, some from both or all options. This was a Google slide that was embedded into our Google site and had all the links on it for students to use. There were screenshots of activities and specific key help for parents to be able to support the learning happening. I also talked through this every Monday so students could see the learning that was happening and the activities for the week. How did it go? Overall I really loved the online learning. Anything technology I thrive off and found it a great opportunity to stretch my learning, change my practice and use technology to enhance learning. Yes it was hard (which I will share below) but I feel my students didn't regress too much in the time we didn't have in class. I had 90-100% attendance in every online zoom session, with students being prepared for the session by bringing the materials, being present and engaged online and using technology in a new way we might not have before. The learning was completed regularly by 72% of my students with many doing parts here and there. Of course I wanted them to be happy so there was no expectation for it to HAVE to be done. The 1:1 sessions were always booked each week and were used to target students in discussion with parents. Any downsides? Yes of course there were some which every teacher faced!
Want even more ideas and in depth on what I did? Check out my online PLD recording that I ran in April! Freebies for your online learning These provocation ideas are split into four categories - sensory, cognitive, pretend and fine motor. Each of these can be easily implemented in your classroom with what you have and the needs or interests of your students. Of course this is not a finite list, but something I am using to make sure I meet each of these play areas for my students. Download this list as pdf below, along with this other freebie of some pretend (dramatic) play ideas too!
These could be photo copied with a copy given to parents for their hard copy, and also attached to their file or planning for you - the teacher. These are handy for all teachers looking to have successful parent teacher conferences with goal setting. Download this freebie below. Parent/teacher conference templates

This resource has 6 pages. To align with my assessment teacher book, I created an overall tracker online. This is made on Google sheets, for you to be able to make a copy of and use (as is) or edit to add your own information in. This can then be printed off and used in your classroom or folder; or as a digital online version. This is free so make a copy of it for yourself at the bottom! Ive been working hard these holidays to create resources that both you and your students will love!! Quite often we listen to kidsbop - kids versions of popular songs that have been rerecorded without swear words or in appropriate versions for children. We also like to listen to originals, so I have searched and put together this youtube playlist of lyric versions you can play in class. These are videos of the songs with lyrics so could be used in singing time, learning time or for fun! Find the link to this playlist at the bottom to listen to the songs or add it to your own playlist for school.
