How to manage your workload

11/28/2021

At the beginning of 2021, I published a series of posts highlighting key areas for beginning teachers. These featured a wide range of posts like reading, writing, behaviour management - with one being managing workload.
I shared a little into a way that you can manage your workload and divide your tasks or activities into four categories:
  • urgent and important
  • not urgent and important
  • urgent and not important
  • not urgent and not important
This helps those of you that like to have structure but need it separated a little to help you.
So I have fancied up my anchor chart and also provided a planning template that can be printed and used to help you categorise your life!

I have also created a range of Google Keep headers to match this type of format if this is something you are looking to switch too. These are free to download via the link below.

Class Learning Story

This year I have continued on my learning story journey with parents. This is where I have changed how I share learning information, notices, ideas, celebrations and more! I switched last year from a traditional newsletter type deal to this. Something visual and shared on Seesaw - the platform we use as a class and school.

I have already shared my playful learning story template which families get for reporting on playful learning that is happening.
This is another template that I made on google drawings. I simply duplicate this each week and then add in or change what I need to. This gets completed each Sunday and shared with parents looking forward to the next week. This was really simple to create - but you can use my template link below to make a copy of and use in your own classroom too!

Happy Gram

Happy grams!!! A quick and cute note for parents on how the day has gone. With so many things that go on during the day, it can be hard to make contact with parents to let them know about the amazing things their child might have done! Could be around attitude, perseverance, assessment or just a general awesome day!

How does the happy gram work?
You write the name of the student, tick or write what they did today that was amazing and send it home with the student. Sometimes if the student has done something that isn't listed, I will just write it on the back. I also like to elaborate sometimes with more information on the back too!

This could be used in so many ways and to cover various times of the day!
Download your own copy of the happy gram to use in your classroom.
