In 2021, I created these decodable book creator readers that practice reading, writing, saying, decoding and encoding key sounds for structured literacy. These are free to access and kids love being able to use them on the ipads in their literacy time. These are available as links here but, I have been asked to share the little posters I made also - so find them as a download below!

In particular, the launch of Planning Course Academy, Model For Me and many other online courses and guides were a massive achievement! These have enrolled over 200 students across the world targeting a wide range of learning areas for teachers to upskill in. Creating these has been a dream come true! Sharing more of my learning, teaching and practice for others to take back into their classrooms for themselves. Something I have been working towards since I first started Mrs Priestley ICT!

Handwriting practice book This practice book is a great way to practice, reinforce and enhance skill or formation with handwriting letters. This can be used in group work, as a handwriting task, as a follow up, independent practice and more! This can be made into a small book that can be practice and used over the year. Alphabet letters - tracing and formation These alphabet letters are a great way for students to practice forming their letters and tracing the right shapes. Print these off in A4 or A3 size, on different coloured paper and have students trace the letter shapes. These could be used with your handwriting programme for junior students, learners beginning to write or someone looking for a prompt for their classroom. Each letter A-Z are in lower case writing, with a callout on where to start their letter formation. There are then numbered movements with the direction arrows showing which way they should go to form their letters. There is 21 pages in this resource with an instruction sheet too.

Sound it out to Space This activity is a great alternative to phoneme box sounding out. It is fun, engaging and hands on with kiddies being able to map out each sound before blending them together. With a space theme, this has phoneme stars with a space background and uses a spaceship/rocket as the moving piece. How does it work? Kiddies use the phoneme star mat and spaceship. Kiddies use words they have provided by their teacher, and move the spaceship each phoneme star whilst saying it out loud. Then once they get to the blend it star, they blend the sounds together to say the word. For reinforcement, kiddies can then write it down on the recording sheet. Make a word This activity is great for students to practice their spelling, decoding, sound mapping and more! There are a range of sounds included that students choose between to make their words. Each page has a key sound in the middle of the circle which is the focus sound. Then students use the sounds around the outside plus the middle sound to make a word. Sounds covered are: short a short e short i short o short u ai ay ee ea igh oa ar or ir oo oy Each sound page comes in two variations. One with a recording box on the bottom and one without. There also is a separate recording page that has a box for real and made up words. Students can use either variation of the activity. There are 66 pages in this resource. |
