If you are anything like me, you'll love this goal setting template to help you think about, brainstorm and manifest your goals and achievements for the 2023 year!

I love taking a few moments at the beginning of the year to really think about what I want to achieve. Not the general 'make more money, or lose weight, or exercise every day'. But really thinking about what I want for the year for myself, my business and as a person.

What do I want to achieve?
Where do I want to be at the end of 2023?
What do I need to do first to get me to that place?
What is going to help me with my goal?
Come back to this monthly or even at key checkpoints over the year to reflect on how you are going. Was your goal/s realistic? Have you smashed them? Where to next?
Then continue to set attainable goals to reach that big main goal in mind!
Download this freebie below to use to start your goal setting!

Guided maths - a teaching sequence

    9/26/2022

After my recent post on Instagram about maths, it was so evident that teachers were looking for next steps and some teaching sequence ideas going forward. So I put together these two guides which come straight from my practice. Something to help you out if you are struggling, unsure on what to include in your maths sessions and some helpful ideas.

My teaching sequence included is something I use everyday!
    1. I start off each maths guided group session with a hot spot first. A warm up activity to get students interested, engaged and warmed up for the learning happening in the session.
    Picture
    2. Next is the modelling of the activity. This is the main chunk of the learning and teaching; involving a gradual release of control model.
I do, we do and you do.
    3. Follow up - something that is done to reinforce learning from the session. It could be a game, activity, worksheet or other.

    Download these below!

I love Simplify my home. I use them at home for all of my pantry and fridge needs. I was looking at my maths area last term and thought....this needs a redo! But how and with what?
I was scrolling on instagram and then thought - yes! Simplify my home containers!

Now this isn't sponsored at all - I paid for these with my own money! But boy it was worth the investment.

I got the push containers pack bundle which comes with a variety of push top containers and baskets. The sizes are perfect for all of your classroom needs - in particular I wanted to plan for my maths equipment.
They are sturdy, easy to use, moveable and clear meaning my students can see what is each of them at a glance.
You too can use these in your classroom - this is the bundle I brought!

Modelling books - do you use them?

      6/27/2022

So modelling books have been something I have shared about a lot over on Instagram. It wasn't until this year, that I really thought about providing more insight into how I use them & offer more tips for those teachers who might not have any idea on how to get these going in the classroom.
      Picture
Are you looking for a tool to SUPPORT learning?
Are you looking for a way to ENGAGE students in learning?
Are you looking for a way to make learning VISIBLE?

Then use modelling books to enhance learning, provide discussion support & model the strategies or learning for students.
      Picture
      Picture
So I created Model For Me - the mini course. A short, sharp look into modelling books, examples from my practice, my top 5 tips for setting them up & everything modelling books in between! Such an easy way to learn about something new & build confidence for your classroom practice. I even touch on digital modelling books which is great for those teachers looking to make more of a digital modelling book shift!

      Ball pit word game

      5/13/2022

A lot of my students have low high frequency word recall and need lots of opportunities to practice/ recognise/ write/ say their high frequency words or tricky words. I recently saw an activity similar to this where students use words in ball pit but practice them or complete them in different ways.
      Picture
So I went to the shops and grabbed some different types of balls to go in my ball pit - being a plastic container box.  How does it work?
Students use the recording sheet alongside the box and can play either by themselves or with a buddy. They take turns picking out a ball, saying the word that is on it and then writing it down on the recording sheet. Students would leave that ball they picked out of the box so students can pick it again.

Another way they could play is with the buddy, once they have picked out the balls to swap recording sheets. Students could then ask each other how to spell a word that was picked out!

Lots of great fun using this resource and I can't wait to get this going in word work time!

Looking at conjunctions in your classroom and writing programme? Use this helpful poster to extend your students who are writing both compound and complex sentences.

Sometimes students always use the same conjunction 'and' this 'and' that; and this might help you try something new!

      Planning tips for teachers

On Instagram this week there has been lots of questions about planning! How to best plan, how to plan in general, ways to streamline.
So late last night when I was up for Ephron teething I mapped out this 'how to plan' tip sheet for teachers to use to help with planning!

Every school and teacher plans differently so keep that in mind when reading this! It is always very confronting sharing how you do things and people tend to always look for negatives.
This is how I work; this is what works for me.

I always spend a long time in the holidays creating really decent long term plans so that my planning throughout the term doesn't become tiresome or tricky.

      How to make slime

      4/12/2022

Last week I shared a snippet of some slime I did with my class and lots of you asked for the recipe. It was lots of fun and super easy to make.

The main ingredients used were white glue, baking soda, shaving cream, food colouring, foam soap and contact solution. I had two students with me at a time making their slime and it took about 5 minutes per group.

Download and use my freebie slime recipe below!

      Letter reversals p and q

      4/10/2022

Do your students get confused between p and q and which why they face?

This is the second letter reversal anchor chart I have created to help with letters that are commonly reversed or written backwards. So I made this letter reversal resource that you can use in your classroom too.

The p starts with a pencil - so the hanging stick first and then the q starts with a queen - so the circle part first.
