Seesaw for Beginners

Seesaw for beginners is the third course I have released online as part of my Mrs Priestley ICT Online courses. These are all free to complete; teaching skills in a hands on, easy to listen to course that you can complete at any time of the day, anywhere. 

The first two are Google Drive for Teachers and Navigating Google Docs. Each of these courses aim to provide an insightful look into how each of the topics work, with videos, quizzes and activities that you can complete along the course. 

Once enrolled, you have free access to the course at all times, being able to access it anywhere and refresh at any time. There is also a certificate and digital badge you can download once you have completed the course.

It's the end of 2019 and 2020 will be here very shortly. I love to be organised and have some idea of what I might do in the new year - looking for resources, new ideas for the classroom and downloading/printing things that I know I will use. First day of school/end of the year anchor charts
These anchor chart activities are a perfect way of getting to know your students at the beginning of the year. These also have end of year ones, which can be used as an end of year reflection with the same template.

Alphabet Bootcamp

With the digital technologies curriculum and increase of digital use in the classroom, there are lots of teachers still looking for support on ways to implement this in the classroom. This is a website post of ideas, links and resources I have used, created or come across. Check them out below and use what you would like in your classroom.

Lifting digital technologies in the classroom
This resource is a long term plan that I created for teachers. It covers both sections of the new curriculum - designing digital learning outcomes and computational thinking. 
You can access this long term plan at this blog post here. It is free to access and is over 10 pages long!

Coding Giant Blocks
This resource is a great way of learning about coding in an unplugged setting. This gets students to explore computational thinking but with an English and Te Reo Maori spin on things. Line up the instructions, students follow them and have fun in the process.

Coding templates
These coding templates help students learn computational thinking, helping the object get somewhere else. These can be completed in two ways with words or symbols - both in worksheet form.

Coding on Seesaw
​There are lots of coding unplugged templates available on Seesaw. These are free to access and can be used to help teach computational thinking. Each one has instructions and a model linked to it.

CS Fundamentals Unplugged
This is an amazing website that has activities and lesson plans for both unplugged and computer coding. These are free to access and use in your classroom. Each activity has lesson plans, lesson videos, teacher videos and more!!

Christmas in the classroom

There are lots of activities that you can do in the classroom to bring about Christmas and the importance of Christmas. Lots of children don't celebrate Christmas which is completely fine. But there is lots of Christmas themed activities I have created for free for use in the classroom.

Christmas Tree Kit
This resource is a great end of year present that I created last year for my students. It involves a few activities to document their Christmas tree creation so they are keeping busy once the end of the year finishes!

A Christmas themed missing numbers maths activity. Students find the missing number and write it next to the right icon.

This is a great activity that has 10 different activities students can complete in the final countdown of the year.

Christmas equal sharing on Google Slides
I created this equal sharing activity to help reinforce equal sharing but using Google Slides! This can be used on Google Slides with draggable object clip art, or on Seesaw with students using emojis!
Great way to practice equal sharing but with that Christmas feel!
