Seesaw already has some great getting started guidelines that take teachers and students through a series of lessons to unpack each tool when beginning with Seesaw. Find the guides here. I took those guides, and created some task cards that can align with those so students can learn about the Seesaw tools, follow specific instructions when using the tools to become confident users of Seesaw. These task cards are free to download and use for your students. There are seven in total, that work through using the main tools when starting out: taking a photo, video, creating a drawing, writing note and writing a comment. Download it from my teachers pay teachers store link here, or download the pdf below. Check out my other Seesaw task cards also.

Seesaw is my go-to favourite app! I love everything about Seesaw and have worked hard over the last few years to make many resources that teachers and students can use alongside Seesaw! Check them all out below, with links, downloads and freebies you can use in your classroom today!
All resources are able to be downloaded and used by students and teachers across the world. These are free to access on the above links. Please keep credit links on each resource and thank you to those who have helped create aspects of the resources.
Please email info@mrspriestleyict.com if you have any questions about any of the Seesaw resources shared above. This year I was working on implementing Seesaw with students and teachers and really wanted to set up some progressions to help make the implementation or use easier. The aim of these progressions were to show each level of user that a student and teacher could be with links to tools, comments, posting and blog. They work through three levels of progressions that students and teachers could be: beginner, proficient and advanced. The best thing about these progressions is they are easily able to be used for both students and teachers. These could be printed off and displayed in the classroom and be referred to whilst students are using them. For teachers, these could be displayed in the staff room and be used as a form of reflection of assessment. Download the pdfs of both below or click the links for online access.
Find the slide deck to these pre-made templates here. Simply make a copy for yourself or just download which slide you want to use. Upload it to Seesaw and create an activity with that for your students to complete.
Check out my other slides for use with Seesaw here.
For the past few years I have created templates that my students (and others across the world) have used for different purposes in learning. Number knowledge, addition, subtraction, spelling practice, word of the week and more! I still have them in seperate slides but really wanted to find a way of making it easier for others to access.
So i put them together in one place >> bit.ly/mrspriestleyictseesawlibrary Check it out if you're looking for some templates to use in Seesaw! I've come across lots of teachers asking how to get Seesaw started or set up in your school. Obviously every school is different and will look different to each teacher. But it is always important to have consistent expectations that teachers know, understand and agree to to ensure consistency across the school.
At my school, we first rolled it out across a few classrooms to test it out, gain feedback and see how students experienced it within their learning. Then we rolled it out school wide. But we needed to get some expectations to ensure teachers knew what was expected of them with this new technology being introduced. So we gathered as a staff meeting and really unpacked what it will look like, what was reasonable to begin with for teachers and students, and what the learning being shared would look like. Our expectations were written into an online policy guidelines so that teachers were clear about what was happening. Our expectations for 2018: To have two posts minimum a term Can be in any curriculum area Can be individual or group based post It must have a WALHT or SC. This will help parents understand what the post is about and what learning was happening. There was also guidelines about what happens if students were to post inappropriate things, places for questions and also conferences. This really helped me (ICT Lead Teacher) and other teachers be clear about what was happening when using Seesaw. If you would like to view this document as a Google doc please view it here. Please see my other Seesaw blog posts for other areas of implementation that can help you get Seesaw started in your school! I am always looking for new ways of getting students engaged and using Seesaw in a meaningful way. The opportunities with Seesaw are really limitless and thats what makes it so great to use in any classroom!
My new Seesaw resources adapts one originally created by @mickie_mueller/@tracipiltz; which I have then modified for a reading and maths type contract activity! You can find the original here. The aim is for students to use it as a reading or maths contract over a week, and share evidence of their learning using the different tools Seesaw offers! The great thing is this can be adapted or changed to suit your students needs or levels! Perfect for any age. Each contract has five activities or ways students can document or show evidence in their learning. The reading contract is aimed around a book or study for the week, and the maths could be used for gathering evidence over a longer period of time or time focusing on a particular strategy. Both of these are customizable, just make a copy of the template and make changes that suit your class! Find the contracts here! Do your students use Seesaw for recording?

This one was still focusing on Seesaw, but how you can integrate it with other apps in literacy. This focused on 'app-smashing' - using multiple apps to produce an end product.
If you would like access to my presentation to see my slides, please visit bit.ly/jordanpriestleyseesaw2! It shows you step by step examples on how to use the apps, activities you can use it with and how to share it to Seesaw! Lots of fun if you have some free time. |
