Did you SMASH your writing? #2
This writing acronym prompt is the perfect way to build and enhance focus, self-checking and goals with writers! I love getting kids pumped and engaged in their writing that is happening - especially when they are aware of their success criteria or learning outcomes they can work on in their writing.
SMASH stands for:
- S - spelling and sounds
- M - many organised ideas
- A - adding interest
- S - stretchy sentences
- H - have you proof read?
This is a second version that can be used as a follow up after the original. This includes more complicated ideas for writing - a progression step after.
This resource includes everything you need to get this going in your classroom! Included is:
- 2 anchor charts unpacking 'Did you SMASH your writing?' - these have the acronym explained with both words and an example
- Individual anchor charts unpacking each letter of SMASH
- Stars unpacking each letter of SMASH that can be used in a variety of ways
- 2 checklists for students to complete to 'assess' or check off the SMASH criteria in their writing. One has picture examples, the other just words.
- Individual goal templates for each letter of SMASH
- Editing pencil freebie resource
