Encoding Word Mats
These encoding word mats are a great reinforcement with literacy and phonics. Encoding is another way of saying 'spelling it out' or 'sounding it out' and commonly used alongside decoding. These encoding mats have spaces for students to write out words, with sounds around the outside.
There are 9 different variations of mats; getting progressively harder with more addition of sounds as students progress through phonics. For durability, laminate and use with a whiteboard pen as a wipe sheet.
